Can the serial port parameters get added to the helpme page? The info is not findable anywhere on the page. I did find it in the development PDF, but it was hard to find! I managed to get serial access to the OVMS board, and it looks like the data call is repeatedly failing. I verified that my GeoSIM card has $15 balance on it. Is my SIM card screwed up? New cables just arrived, with strange pinout

I just got a shipment of these custom cables. Any prizes for guessing the purpose? Mark. DB9-F to Left-Hand right-angle J1962-M cable with pinout B, as below Pinout B J1962-M DB9-F Signal 4 3 Chassis/Power GND 6 5 CAN-H (alternate CAN) 14 4 CAN-L (alternate CAN) 13 7 CAN-H (primary CAN) 12 2 CAN-L (primary CAN) 16 9 +12V Vehicle Power J1962 end should be MALE plug with right angle cable. DB9 end should be FEMALE. Both ends should be enclosed in shells, and cable should be 1metre in length.

OVMS v2 startup weirdness

Hi all I just got my OVMS v2 module, with GeoSIM. I registered the SIM online, then tried to putting it into the OVMS SIM socket. I provisioned the module via the SMS provisioning page (using the +44 number). However, the board seems to be looping while trying to start up. The board blinks its version OK (2.6.5), then starts trying to connect. I see 10 green blinks for a few iterations. Then the board blinks 6 green for about a minute. Then both lights come on solid for about 15-20 seconds. Then a pause, then six blinks. Repeat until the end of time. This 6 blinks for a minute, solid on for 15-20 seconds, then 6 blinks loop never ends. What could be going on? I tried connecting to the diag port via serial (115k 8n1 none) and am getting nothing. I tried with hardware flow control on as well. Still nothing. I tried reflashing the board via PICkit2 and redoing the provisioning. Still no good. Thanks! -Jeff

v2 PCB traces

Hello, Is there a file available with the copper trace layout of the v2 PC board? Is see the schematic files in the GIT repository under vehicle/Car Module/v2-base/, but nothing about the physical hardware layout. Specifically I'm looking for a safe spot to drill a couple of holes in the PCB without damaging the circuit. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Arthur Hebert

I don't have access to a garage/workshop but would come and join you if you still want to do some testing. hack-a-Leaf day

I’ll be in UK between July 7th and 22nd (arriving, leaving, those dates). I’m staying around the Oxford area. I have quite a few commitments that I’ll firm up on the 7th so will know what days I have free then. I thought it might be cool to arrange a hack-a-Leaf day, trying to get OVMS working in 1 day on the Nissan Leaf (EV CAN bus). I have modules and cables, a laptop, USB-serial adaptor, USB-CAN adaptor, and PICKIT3. I need a Leaf, a location to do the work, and some help. I’ve got a rental car, so can drive anywhere with a couple of hours of Oxford. Please eMail me with the days that are possible for July 8th through 23rd for you, if you can help out. server documentation discrepancies

Hello All, I'm finding some apparent discrepancies in the limited documentation (one README file) for the server. If I'm missing something please feel free to clue me in. 1) "The car protocol is built on UDP using encrypted communication packets." I do not see ovms_server.pl opening or listening on a UDP socket. I see it operating on TCP ports 6867 and 6868. 2) "The server also includes a web interface for basic functions such as setting the password, registering the car and checking status." I do not see this web interface anywhere. The documentation is severely lacking in explaining what the various perl scripts do... although in most cases this can be deduced with some examination. The perl scripts, themselves, contain little-to-no internal comments. As I presently don't really need to have the web interface mentioned in #2 I would be happy to configure the user and car accounts manually from a MySQL command-line. However, since the SQL database structure is undocumented, it appears that I'll need to just do my best at guessing how that's done. Thanks, Lee. -- *Lee Howard* *Mainpine, Inc. Hi After the release of the 3.3.0 version is now possible to lock unlock the car by reducing max speed. Would be nice if (by feature enabling) ovms could handle automatic lock each time car is parked, forcing an unlock by the app. Maybe Can be an app feature.
