Hi, this brings back cellular usage statistics, using hellocharts lib -- not sure about the previous implementation, there was just a button remaining from that. I chose hellocharts because of it's looks, performance and functionality. I'll try to implement some history data views using it as well -- if there are no problems with the lib. Leaf info?

Hi All, I'm Lee, I've just picked up an OVMS unit from Kevin Sharpe, with a view to doing some development for the Nissan Leaf. So I've got a few questions I'd like to ask/clarify surrounding the current state of OVMS on the Leaf if I may. Does the current firmware include all the stuff found during last years Hack-a-Leaf day in the UK? Either way, are there any notes from the day that may help me get up to speed? Or pointers as to directions to head in? Is the "Leaf ODB-II" cable that FastTech now sell different to the old ODB2 left/right cables? Can the older cable be modified into a Leaf cable? I assume the new firmware needs this new Leaf cable? Does the Leaf firmware use the internal GPS from the car or is it better to get an external GPS antenna plugged directly into the OVMS module? What programmer should I buy? The PicKit 2 or the PicKit 3? I've read the 2 is easier to use, but I need the 3 if I'm developing and it's more complicated. Is this still the case? If it's the 2, does anyone have the software, as it's gone from Microchips site (seems to be discontinued). If it's the 3, is there a similar guide to using the 2 covering the extra complexity? Does anyone have a modifiable form of the Tesla Roadster User Guide PDF? As I'd like to convert it into the Leaf User Guide, but it gets a little bit broken when I edit it in LibreOffice. On the same note, the Twizy Guide appears to be a broken link on the site. Is there is decent/easy to understand ODBII spec/site somewhere that is being used to get cribs/pointers to reverse engineering the recorded CANbus chatter? Or is it just knowledge in devs heads? :( Lastly does the CAN Re Tool work OK with the Leaf? As there are mentions Tesla rules in the other files? I thin k that will do for now, more questions as I run into problems! :) All the best, Lee

Hi, some minor rework on notifications: https://github.com/openvehicles/Open-Vehicle-Android/commit/e10a15f850fa3e8… - Dropping duplicate notifications - Fixed notification icon - Immediate display of new notifications if App open - Notification list displays line breaks as sent The duplicates got really bad lately, I think due to multiple test installs. C2DM currently sends the same notification 7 times. I think that may be some issue with unregistering on deinstallation, but as C2DM needs to be replaced by GCM in the near future I just added a duplicate filter in the message processing. Yes, I think the app side problem can be resolved by means of a background behavior (i don't know ios architecture but I've found an article here: http://www.techotopia.com/index.php/IOS_7_Multitasking,_Background_Transfer… stating that an ios app can have a background behavior. See remote notifications, i think it fits). For the privacy concerns, maybe would be easy to collect responses (every app would send a go/nogo instead of their position) but this would be a two way communications (every app send the go/nogo) and one of them will send the "stop" to the car if all of the responses are "nogo". 1) When the car is starting a notification will "wake" the app (or activate a background behavior). The app then fetch the car position and the device position, thus making the decision (go/nogo). 2) The app send the results to the server 3) The server prepare a global response (Boolean OR of all the responses) 4) The server, after a predetermined amount of time (timeout) or when all party members have sent the response or at the first GO response, send a notification "Global GO/NOGO" 4) The app get the global response and eventually ask the car to stop Would it work? Android App : minimum requirements for communication

Hi all, I kept working on my project and I have been optimizing the memory usage of the code that I wrote in the OVMS firware since last time. However I have reached the limit and I cannot simplify my code much more. As you said, Michael, the only thing that can solve the space issue for me now is to remove some unneeded code. On an other topic, I looked into the Android app, and I plan to implement a simple interface to call the commands that I added in the module's firmware. I think of removing most of the current GUI to keep only part of the settings dealing with the authentication, and then to add a new activity that fits my needs. There seem to be a few modules in the Android project that I will not need. So I prefer to start a new project and include only the needed code from the original app. I would be much obliged if you could give me some hints to get me going, in order to keep the minimum requirements for the app to manage its connection with the server and the car and be able to issue "MSG" commands. I think the server should have a role in this, mostly in the case that more than one device is "joined" to the same car. Let me explain a little more the scenario: Let's say there are 2 devices registered for the same car (a smartphone and a tablet) and one of them (my phone, for instance) is in the car with me while the tablet is on my desk at home. When car starts the phone make the right decision (car is properly used) while the tablet makes the wong one (car is probably stolen). How we can resolve this? All the solution I've taken into account are based upon "awareness" (each app should be aware of the others) and in this the server (or the communication protocol) has a role. Some alternativees: 1) each app knows the others position and the rule is "all app positions are incompatible with cvar position" (some privacy issuese) 2) the decision is a "party" one: Apps make local decision and communicate it to the others (and do nothing if at least one app is stating "OK") 3) there is a "master app" that is the only that makes the decision. As social aspect, would be nice to have more complex rules based on tuple <CarId, CarPosition, DeviceId, DevicePosition> (the scenario I suggested on Kids monitoring). Only one question now, Do OVMS module send a message when car is started (for Twizy is the GO position)? OVMS as Antithft/Alarm system

Hi, it's a bit that I'm using OVMS with my Twizy and I would like to share with you an idea I have. Can we use OVMS as an antitheft (or at least as an alarm)? That's the idea: OVMS (module, server, app) to decide if the car is "properly used" or "probably stolen" by means of car position AND device with mobile app position. Simple rule: If car is moving then send an alarm to the device if the the device position is not compatible with car position (Alarm can be changedc into stop the car, or whatever can be done by means of ovms module). Case of more than one device connected: All of devices positions are not compatible with the car position. There are more complex situations that can have "social aspects" (i.e. having an alarm if a device AND the car exit/enter a specific area). Brainstorming on this are welcome! Gianluca
