Roadster cooldown

Last evening I returned home from a trip and decided to try the "charge cooldown" command to cool the battery on my Roadster. I had not tried it before, and I think it may not have worked correctly. I issued the "charge cooldown" command using the shell page of the web UI. The response was a line indicating that the cooldown had started, and I got a notification through server v2 that the car was charging in Range mode. But later the status page in the iPhone app indicated that the car was charging in Standard mode at 32A, which is the full rate from my EVSE. Over the course of half an hour the SOC increased from 42% to 50%, at which point I manually stopped the charge. I thought the cooldown procedure was supposed to charge in Range mode at 12A and not significantly add to the battery charge level. I have not studied the cooldown code, but after a quick look I see that the procedure is more complicated than one might expect, stepping through multiple cycles as needed. Did I do something incorrectly? Or do these symptoms indicate that there might be a problem with the implementation? While the charge was in progress I blindly tried a "charge status" command hoping that it would tell me about the progress of cooldown, but alas that subcommand does not exist. -- Steve

Privacy Policy

We are way overdue from having a privacy policy. Given what we do, it is tough. We are a community project not charging for services, and need to protect both our user’s data and ourselves. I’ve created a draft policy, based on an open source template. Kia Soul strangeness

App Version: 3.12.4 (20180428) Vehicle: G8-Soul Server: 2.1.1-20121216 Car Firmware: 3.1.010/ota_0/main The nav screen and / or radio comes on. I've only noticed this happening when the Level 2 charger is plugged in. This happens when the vehicle is locked as well. After a few minutes, the radio / NAV screen shuts off (like when it times out, before exiting the car). It will also shut off, as soon as the driver's door is opened. Estimated range is now 156km ... and Ideal Range is 45km ... what that means I still dont know how to add Soul Picture... in app I now using other car ...Ampera :( My Car KIA SOUL EV 30kW OVMS is version 3 firmware is updated to newest one.. can messages

I tested the I-MiEV code on my car Peugeot iON, but some can messages not work, how can I search for working can messages, I need some special hardware for log can messages or, I can use OVMS hardware. I search for can message codes for internet and have some collision, and I wan't to test it.

Lost flash after 12v battery went flat

My 12v battery went flat and when I got that sorted, my OVMS 3.0 wasn't working. Connecting to the console indicated the flash was corrupt or empty (see below). I did a make flash and it started working. (Hardware) Sharing the bus, J4, J5, J6?

Firstly, although the topic seems ripe for it, I couldn't come up with a good pun involving buses or terminators for the subject line. Apologies. As I have previously mentioned, I have a '15 Nissan Leaf, which uses both the CAN0 and CAN1 buses. Everything that should work, works quite nicely when the OVMS (V3.1) module is plugged in on its own. (Although it did take a couple of attempts to find an OBD2 splitter that had all of the needed pins connected....) However, when I add a second OBD2 device (a Bluetooth dongle to feed the Leaf Spy Pro app) the OVMS module appears to lose the CAN1 bus -- vehicle status events like door locks and headlight state stop updating almost (but not quite) entirely. I suspect that both OVMS and Leaf Spy do at least some active polling for status, but my (limited) understanding is that the devices *should* coexist. Any thoughts on what the issue may be? Two possibilities that I have thought of are that, with the OBD2 splitter cable, the high speed CAN bus is formed into an unsupported star, instread of straight serial, topology. The other is that the OVMS module may not be properly terminated -- the schematic and board show that the 120 ohm resistors that terminate the CAN bus are included, but not connected by default -- there are three sets of jumper pads that can be shorted to enable the respective terminators. Would soldering a wire across the J5 (CAN1) jumper help? (And why isn't termination enabled by default? Just curious....) Thanks! Brian. PS: A request to put in the wish list file for V4.... Can the internal expansion bus pins be laid out with the standard 2.54mm pitch? Vehicle theft alert

Hi folks, Probably a historical reason for this; if not, not a big deal I suppose... I just got an alert that my car was being transported, possibly due to theft/flatbed. Checked the garage, and the car was sleeping peacefully, as expected. A quick check of the status shows that the GPS has lost lock (don't know why), and presume that's the reason for the alert. Checked the code (components/ovms_location)... Is there a reason that the theft alert is not qualified by m_gpslock? I suppose one could thwart the theft alert by covering the car in tin foil first, but it seems like a long shot. Alternatively, is it worth alerting on the loss (and/or restoration) of GPS lock? I'm guessing that might be more annoying than it's worth. Greg
