Sport vs Non-Sport in VIN

Looking at: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/1128-Decoding-Tesla-Roadster-… the suggestion is that a "3" in the 8th digit would signify a sport, and a "1" would be a normal roadster. In particular: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/1128-Decoding-Tesla-Roadster-… Digits 1-3, Manufacturer: 5YJ = Tesla Digit 4, Car line: R = Roadster Digit 5, Body type: E = convertible Digit 6, Region: 1 = USA Digit 7, Restraint system: For 2008, 1 = Type 2 seat belts and dual air bags For 2010, A = Type 2 seat belts and dual air bags Digit 8, Motor: For 2008, B = Tesla 56C For 2010, 1 = Tesla M6B; 3 = Tesla M6S Digit 9, Check digit: Variable according to formula Digit 10, Model year: 8 = 2008; A = 2010 Digit 11, Plant of manufacture: 1 = Menlo Park, USA Digit 12-17, Sequential production number They additionally note that Founders' Series vehicles will have F in digit 12. Therefore -- 5YJRE11B = 2008 Roadster 5YJRE1A1 = 2010 Roadster 5YJRE1A3 = 2010 Roadster Sport would seem to give us the ability to auto-identify a v1.5 car as a "B" in the 8th digit. Does anyone here know if this is reliable? It would be nice to auto-detect this to have one less thing to hassle the users with. Regards, Mark.

Another Preview for the new iOS App

I've just released to testflightapp another preview of the upcoming 1.2.5 iOS App. This is build 20120506. Testflightapp testers registered for the OVMS project can get it in the usual place. We're getting close now. The basics are working and the last thing to do is the configuration features/parameters/advanced screens. Regards, Mark. I'm in Los Gatos, practically the next town over. I'd be happy to meet up with Josh on Monday to see if between us we can get things to work. While I'm not a developer, we can at least swap SIMs, modules, and antennas to see if we can narrow it down. I'm also willing to be a resource for firmware upgrades in the SF Bay Area - but someone will need to give me some instructions on what to get and how to do it. - Bennett (aka smorgasbord on TMC)

Any OVMS developers or experienced users near Saratoga, CA? There is a new user (Josh) who is having problems getting his cellular connection working. The module comes up and seems to show a connection, but no SMS responses. Regards, Mark.

Revised OVMS.X structure

As work is about to start on Volt/Ampera support, I've re-worked the OVMS.X project somewhat to provide a stub implementation. You'll now see 4 build configs: three start TR and on starts VA. If you want Tesla Roadster firmware, just make sure you choose a config that starts with TR. I'm now going to start work on the diagnostics lights re-work. Regards, Mark.
