Reseller, Vehicle Support Table, Fully Charge Live & Hyundai
Great work developing OVMS, I've been running OVMS for nearly a year now in my Nissan LEAF and e-NV200. It's worked flawlessly, so much better than the Nissan Connect. I'm very enthusiastic about EV's and open-source solutions. I'm the co-founder of the https://OpenEnergyMonitor.org project to design and build open-source hardware and software tools for monitoring energy. We have also recently branched out into manufacturing web-connected EV charging stations in collaboration with OpenEVSE. I have been in communication with Mark and Michael regarding reselling OVMS hardware via our web store: http://shop.openenergymonitor.com. I have been working on producing an updated vehicle support table since the table currently on the website is missing a lot of EV's OVMS now supports. Please help me compile this table: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ZPC8Rh2OVGgT-EPuN3xdZsomhk1JA0sQ_WTTxTIf... I have an exhibitor stand for OpenEnergyMonitor at Fully Charged Live Event in a couple of weeks (7th, 8th, 9th June) in Silverstone, UK. I hope setup a demo display for OVMS. I'm also keen to meetup with any other OVMS devs / enthusiasts at fully changed live. Let me know if you will be attending. Finally, has anyone done any tested with OVMS on a Hyundai Ioniq / Kona EV? I'm aware the Kone shares many of the same EV components as the Kia e-niro therefore OVMS may work with a Kona. It would be really great to support the Ioniq and Kona since these EV's currently do no have app support in Europe. I think best to get the source data for this into the user guide, and then base summary tables off that. I’ve updated the user guide just now to put the structure in place for this, with some standardized formats. I will then update the Tesla and other base vehicle types I support based on that. For the other vehicles (maintained by other developers), lets gather the data here, and update the guide. I have the template for this now as below. Regards, Mark Vehicle Documentation The following chapters document support for specific vehicle types. They each contain a summary of vehicle connection cabling, and other requirements, as well as a general table detailing available vehicle functionality. This table is structured as follows: Vehicle: Type Function Support Status Hardware Specific module version requirements Vehicle Cable Details of vehicle cable requirements GSM Antenna GSM antenna requirements GPS Antenna GPS antenna requirements SOC Display Ability to display SOC% Range Display Ability to display range estimates GPS Location GPS location source and capabilities Speed Display Ability to display vehicle speed Temperature Display Ability to display vehicle component temperatures BMS v+t Display Ability to display BMS voltages and temperatures Charge Status Display Ability to display charging status Charge Interruption Alerts Ability to raise charge interruption alerts Charge Control Ability to control charge Cabin Pre-heat/cool Control Ability to pre-heat/cool cabin Lock/Unlock Vehicle Ability to lock/unlock vehicle Valet Mode Control Ability to enable/disable valet mode Others Other vehicle-specific functionality

I’ve updated Glyn's table for Tesla Model S. As he will be showing OVMS at the upcoming event, and it would be useful to have a good overview of level of support, please help him to directly update that table as well. Regards, Mark. P.S. I’ve added ’tpms’ to the table below.

Does the e-Niro really support remote pre-heating ? I've not yet been able to get hold of an OVMS v3 and I have a Hyundai Kona ( although should be the same as the e-Niro ), so I've only been browsing the source. But it looked to me that it will display when preheading was manually set, but not send a command to enable it. Happy to be wrong on this !

I'll be attending on Saturday ... will you be selling them ? Cheers, Pete

I don’t think so. It would have to implement the CommandClimateControl() method, but I don’t see that. A rough ‘fgrep -r’ on the components/vehicle_* tree shows this implemented in NissanLeaf and SmartED only (and the SmartED implementation seems to set a charge timer). Regards, Mark.

Hi I’m helping Geir with the KIA e-Niro in OVMS, since he sold his car. There is no remote preheating available for the KIA cars yet. Ah Many thanks Timo. A somewhat related question then. I have a Hyundai Kona Electric and would love to see support for that in OVMS - this should be straight forward since it should be the same as the e-Niro. At the moment I'm using autopi but plan to get a v3 when its available - in the mean time I can still use autopi to explore PIDs ( I've been contributing to https://github.com/JejuSoul/OBD-PIDs-for-HKMC-EVs ). Is there some magic technique you've been using to discover PIDs on the e-Niro ? Any sources of info that might be of use ? This who discovery thing is driving me nuts :-) Cheers, Pete
Hi Pete It's not me but Geir Øyvind Vælidalo that has found the pids. And I know that he has some special tools and hardware for this with lots of magic. 😉 I think the Kona should work with the e-Niro setup without any problems, the Evnotify Kona setup worked in my e-Niro when I tried it. But if you are up to it I think you should make a new vehicle class for Kona. And ask the iphone/android guys to add pictures in the apps. Geir has as I stated before sold his car and I'm trying to improve the functions the best I can. I already managed to do some small stability improvements And will eventually ask Geir to commit them to Github.
