Fwd: Open Vehicle 3.2.1 (20131211) is now available
A good day. OVMS Android App v3.2.1 is now released to beta test. You can get it from testflightapp: http://www.testflightapp.com/install/c514a82bf4936634cbd1f76536c74c67-ODMxNz... We’re using TestFlightApp for both iOS and Android Apps, so it would be helpful if you could register there. If you do, you’ll get notified of new builds as and when they are released. As with the iOS App, we’ve had sponsorship and support from Zero Carbon World for this: Charging station integration and information provided by Zero Carbon World (http://www.zerocarbonworld.org/open-charge-map) and the Open Charge Map project (www.openchargemap.org). Let me have feedback / problems via testflightapp or here. It is a beta #1 build, but is functionally complete. The only known issue is a 20 second delay when a new car is setup (or the first time the app is run), for charge station data to be downloaded. Regards, Mark.

Hi Mark, Can you confirm if this build supports the Leaf? Just to confirm that both Nikki (I assume) and I are standing ready to help Leaf testing once firmware is available. Look forward to helping out. Also, I now have an OBD2 and Leafspy so maybe able to take traces if required. Robert, This is an update to the Android App (not in-car firmware). I’m still working on the Leaf support (but have been ill with flu for the past week). Should have a build for you guys any day now. Dear Mark, I have just started following your blog and entire project. Is entire project focussed on electric cars(Roadster $ Leaf) or there are chances that your solution can be used for other cars too . I wish to contribute and test with others cars using standard OBD11 and probably getting more data that simple OBD. But the query is will your app or server require changes . Since you have codes available online can we make changes to adjust server/app for various other cars. Awaiting your reply and guidance. Avesh, Welcome.
Is entire project focussed on electric cars(Roadster $ Leaf) or there are chances that your solution can be used for other cars too .
We do focus on electric cars, but there is nothing in the project really specific to them. I have recently made quite a few changes to the generic OBDII driver to introduce a generic polling mechanism, and that vehicle support should be quite reasonable when that code is released (still a work-in-progress today). My concern with generic OBDII though is the 12V battery. OVMS does not currently implement a sleep mode, and it is not so easy in the current architecture and hardware, so power drain may be a concern for cars with small batteries.
I wish to contribute and test with others cars using standard OBD11 and probably getting more data that simple OBD. But the query is will your app or server require changes . Since you have codes available online can we make changes to adjust server/app for various other cars.
Everything we have is in the project HEAD now. I suggest you look at my new vehicle.{h,c} and vehicle_obdii.c code to see how it works. You can see that it should be fairly easy to extend. Have a look at it, and then come back to us with any questions / suggestions you have. Regards, Mark. On 11 Dec, 2013, at 8:09 pm, Avesh Chauhan <aveshcool@gmail.com> wrote:

OVMS Android App v3.2.1 is now released to beta test. You can get it from testflightapp:
http://www.testflightapp.com/install/c514a82bf4936634cbd1f76536c74c67-ODMxNz...
We’re using TestFlightApp for both iOS and Android Apps, so it would be helpful if you could register there. If you do, you’ll get notified of new builds as and when they are released.
As with the iOS App, we’ve had sponsorship and support from Zero Carbon World for this:
Charging station integration and information provided by Zero Carbon World (http://www.zerocarbonworld.org/open-charge-map) and the Open Charge Map project (www.openchargemap.org <http://www.openchargemap.org/>).
Let me have feedback / problems via testflightapp or here. It is a beta #1 build, but is functionally complete. The only known issue is a 20 second delay when a new car is setup (or the first time the app is run), for charge station data to be downloaded.
Regards, Mark.

I can confirm that: - I got an email - I was able to download the app and install it - I was able to change my default car picture to a Think City (horaay) I have noticed a couple of changes which might not be intended: - map default zoom level too zoomed in - when in map view horizontal wipe does not go to the next menu item (Messages), it only moves the map about. - the Think images need a bit of photoshopping to remove the white border. I guess I should start putting stuff in bugzilla or something.. Or even better, fix them :) Thanks Mark for getting me "into the loop". Fix would be good! Github pulls accepted :-)
- map default zoom level too zoomed in
We tried to put it close to the iOS version, but maybe both are too aggressive. It is a fairly simple change I think.
- when in map view horizontal wipe does not go to the next menu item (Messages), it only moves the map about.
On my nexus 4, I need to swipe from just off the side of the screen, and not too fast. I think this is part of the ActionBarSherlock framework.
- the Think images need a bit of photoshopping to remove the white border.
I wouldn’t worry about this too much, but you are welcome to make the fix. I am re-working that entire framework to use base layer + colour layer + mask to generate all the different car images from one. Any help you, or anyone, can give to this would be most appreciated. This is beta #1, and the changes made to get OCM integration done have been quite drastic (most notable upgrading to maps api v2). I am aware that the translations will need to be added to, but that can be left until we are a bit later in this beta process. Regards, Mark.
