Re: [Ovmsdev] OVMS v3.1 Availability
And we’re sold out of EU kits in the first 5 hours. I’ve even had to redirect some of the stock coming to me, to Fasttech, to cope with demand. There are still US kits available (I guess USA is just waking up now). I hope everyone here who needs one got one. If not, let me know and I’ll see what can be done. Regards, Mark.

Assuming no problems with the first batch, and my tests are ok early next week, I’ll use the money from this first batch to immediately order a second. I’m just a bit nervous to order (and pay for) hundreds of these, until we have more experience with them in real cars. Remember, I’m the only one to have ever run a 3.1 module in a real car :-) Regards, Mark.

Mark, there is some confusion now which orders will be fulfilled and which will have to wait for the next batch, as some have ordered after the 5 hours. In fact Fasttech still lists the EU modules as "on stock, ships in 3 business days", and seem to still accept orders. I think they should switch on hard stock tracking for the v3 modules as they did with v2, so people won't get disappointed. Regards, Michael Am 24.03.2018 um 16:24 schrieb Stephen Casner:

I asked them to list it “out of stock” yesterday. Not really sure why it is not stock tracking like the v2, and I’ve asked them that as well. Agree about the disappointment. Regards, Mark.

Firstly, the good news. We’ve got enough to satisfy all orders entered up to now (and the EU kit is now ‘out of stock’ on Fasttech). I’ll redirect some that were coming to HK to Fasttech, and that will be enough. The US kits are still in stock, and we’ve confirmed that Fasttech will show out of stock when sales hit 50 for that. I will have 20 sets (a few EU and 10xUS) in HK, and can let you have one of those when I get them (late next week / early the week after). I’ll announce here when I have them. We can make EU modems quite quickly, but the main boards have one component that is currently three weeks lead time. The original idea was to make this original batch of 120, and get them in the field. Wait a couple of weeks to ensure no hardware issues (either design and production) - if ok, then proceed with a larger second batch. I still think that is a reasonable plan, so would mean the next batch go ahead would be probably mid April, with available early to mid May. From then onwards, we can keep plenty in stock. Regards, Mark.

Awesome, thanks for the info, I'll forward that.
I still think that is a reasonable plan,
I second that.
so would mean the next batch go ahead would be probably mid April, with available early to mid May. From then onwards, we can keep plenty in stock.
I'll forward that as well :)
Regards, Mark.

I asked them to list it “out of stock” yesterday. Not really sure why it is not stock tracking like the v2, and I’ve asked them that as well.
Agree about the disappointment.

Mark,
there is some confusion now which orders will be fulfilled and which will have to wait for the next batch, as some have ordered after the 5 hours.
In fact Fasttech still lists the EU modules as "on stock, ships in 3 business days", and seem to still accept orders.
I think they should switch on hard stock tracking for the v3 modules as they did with v2, so people won't get disappointed.

I have not ordered one yet. Since I am privileged to have one of the v3.0 modules, I am content to continue using that for development so long as its RAM complement remains sufficient.

The picture says it all. We’re still trying to work out the final numbers, and adjust to meet all orders accepted by Fasttech, but all the first production batch have gone. I’m also trying to still get some to me in HK, so I can get those to people who _really_ need them. I’ll know more later today. The circuit boards have arrived back from manufacturing, so China has started final assembly. Then QC. Then delivery. Regards, Mark.

Oh, good grief. I’ll let them know. I guess they are trying to be make absolutely sure nobody orders it (after the over-ordering debacle). P.S. The final tally was more than 70 EU kits sold. We’re making up some more modems to cope with that. The first 60xEU and all US kits should start shipping to users at the end of this week (or first thing next week), and the remaining 10xEU kits will go out next week. Regards, Mark.

Mark,
there is some confusion now which orders will be fulfilled and which will have to wait for the next batch, as some have ordered after the 5 hours.
In fact Fasttech still lists the EU modules as "on stock, ships in 3 business days", and seem to still accept orders.
I think they should switch on hard stock tracking for the v3 modules as they did with v2, so people won't get disappointed.

There are still US kits available (I guess USA is just waking up now).
I hope everyone here who needs one got one. If not, let me know and I’ll see what can be done. I have not ordered one yet. Since I am privileged to have one of the v3.0 modules, I am content to continue using that for development so long as its RAM complement remains sufficient.

FYI: The first 80 modules have been shipped by Fasttech. They should start to arrive to end users later this week. The remaining 20 modules will be shipped by Fasttech later this week. At around that same time, I will get stock of 10xEU and 10xUS. If anyone urgently needs these, let me know. Fasttech have also updated their listings with the latest photographs of the final version (including serial number sticker).

Can't believe I missed out on the first batch, I didn't get it as I was hoping to get the $20 discount, the coupon code wasn't visible to me on the site yesterday :-(
Any ideas when the next production run is going to be?
Thanks

I asked them to list it “out of stock” yesterday. Not really sure why it is not stock tracking like the v2, and I’ve asked them that as well.
Agree about the disappointment.
