Yeah, they must have had a diagnostics screen up, as something definitely interfered with those updates. The OVMS was never disconnected, and I could see the car driving around on the map, but no updates to those 3 temps. Ambient temp was still active, however. A while after they parked the car (and after my email) the rest of the temps suddenly started updating, showing a disturbingly hot battery. I presume they had turned off or disconnected whatever they were using. I contacted them and had them plug the car in for some cooling. Since the CAN bus we're watching is the one that drives the displays, and the VDS display shows different stuff (different menus) when in diagnostics mode, I can imagine that different modes might have different sets of messages on the bus. Just a theory. But to the sleep stuff, I'm pretty sure the temps still update while the car is sleeping. The shop got behind in their work, and had the car sitting outside in the sun for a day, so I watched the battery temp climb and eventually fall at night. Very annoying, both for the delay, as well as the stress on the battery pack. Car is happily home now, finally, and all metrics are working. They let me borrow a Model S 75. During drive, all temperatures should be updated. Perhaps if they had some diagnostic screen on, that could be suppressed, but I don’t know how. From what I have seen, they are continually transmitted on the CAN bus.

After the car is parked, the temperature subsystem goes to sleep and stops transmitting. This is the same as the normal vehicle sleep mechanism, where the coolant pump stops. OVMS will display that as the temperatures going gray on the Apps. If you tap the trunk of the car (in the App), you can wake it up and the temperatures will start updating again (until car goes back to sleep).

One thing I noticed is that the PEM, Motor, and Battery temps aren't being updated. Position, speed (yikes!), tire pressure, and battery SoC are live, so the OVMS is still connected and working normally.

I'm guessing they had the car in some sort of service / debug mode. Would that prevent the CAN messages from being reported on the diagnostic connector?

Ah, right. Forgot about that. My battery is currently at 28C, and the car is asleep (coolant pump not running). All the temps (sans TPMS) are lit up on the v2 Android app, but aren't changing. If I wake up the car, they suddenly changed (slightly - the car is in the garage). Greg Mark Webb-Johnson wrote:
