Getting OVMS next week
I have ordered an OVMS kit for my 2011 Mk1 Leaf and also my 2012 Vauxhall Ampera. Once I get them up and running I shall be looking to see how I might help with development. Any suggestions please? :-) I have gone with GeoSIM on both. I will need a programmer to update the firmware... can I get one in the UK? My particular interest with OVMS is interfacing to other charge station databases such as OCM. I might be able to provide a testing server too (Windows or Linux) if that might help. Paul
Paul, I can't see any on UK eBay. Perhaps easiest to just order the fasttech one (shipping is free, but may take a few weeks). Given your experience on software/web, help on the server side would be particularly useful. The biggest issue on my todo at the moment is OAUTH support for the drupal website and perl OVMS server - this would make the most sense for the HTTP API and for future client work (particularly for the public charge records). Thx Mark. If I can't find a programmer from the UK in the next day or so I shall do just that and order from fasttech. :-) Given the early stage of development for the Leaf I would really like to get the programmer asap. Glad to help with server stuff if I can. Not used drupal much (I am mostly Joomla and Wordpress) but have done a bit so might not be too much of a problem. Once I get it all installed and provisioned I'll start to try to get familiar with the code. Paul On 8 January 2014 00:54, Mark Webb-Johnson <mark@webb-johnson.net> wrote:

BTW... not done much Perl scripting. I am mostly PHP/mySQL on LAMP platforms and .NET/SQL Server/C# on WAMP. All quite rusty I might add :-) :-) But they say it is like riding a bike... cold and wet in the rain and hurts like hell when you fall off! Just a gentle reminder: LEAF support isn't fully up and running yet, so don't expect a huge amount. On Wed, Jan 8, 2014 at 12:26 AM, Paul Churchley <paul@churchley.org> wrote:

I think I already have said previously but thanks anyway. In fact, the reason I have got it before if can do much is that I hope to find something that I could do to help with development. Not sure quite what yet but I am sure there will be something even if all it is is supplying logs! Paul On 8 January 2014 06:22, Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield <Nikki@littlecollie.com>wrote:

That’s awesome. Be advised too that there’s something you need to do with the Ampera that I always forget when installing: Set CanWrite to true (I think) — someone confirm it? Niki. On 9 Jan 2014, at 07:37, Paul Churchley <paul@churchley.org> wrote:

Thanks Nikki. David Peilow said that he thought that the Ampera was in "read only" mode right now so if someone could confirm it then that would be great :-) Thanks everyone... GeoSIMs have arrived and now just waiting for the OVMS kits from ZCW. Paul On 9 January 2014 08:25, Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield <nikki@aminorjourney.com>wrote:

The Volt/Ampera module needs to poll the vehicle bus, so needs CANWRITE=1. Regards, Mark. On 9 Jan, 2014, at 4:43 pm, Paul Churchley <paul@churchley.org> wrote:

I got a PICkit 2 from RS, it's not as good as the PICkit 3 but was considerably cheaper at the time. The 3 seems to be about the same price now, so I would go for that. Matt Beard On 9 January 2014 09:16, Paul Churchley <paul@churchley.org> wrote:
