Developers, Has anyone decoded the alarm message on the can bus of the Roadster? Any ideas where it might be hiding? Thanks, Jack
The alarm arm/disarm messages have been found. Do you mean "alarm is sounding"? I seem to remember the vds shows a message if the alarm is sounding? On 25 Jul, 2012, at 8:05 AM, Jack West <jackduncanwest@gmail.com> wrote:

Yes, I did mean "alarm is sounding". And along with that, "sound the alarm". I'm not sure if the VDS shows any message if the alarm sounds. I'll have to check. Thanks On Jul 25, 2012, at 1:25 AM, Mark Webb-Johnson <mark@webb-johnson.net> wrote:

It would be good to find the 'alarm is sounding' code - anyone without neighbors to annoy? For 'sound the alarm', I seem to remember Scott saying sending the unlock code too fast caused a single beep - something like the sound made when you lock the car with the key fob too soon after closing the door. On US 2.5 Roadsters the VDS shows "deactivating PIN lock" and requests the PIN to shut off the alarm. Using the key FOB to lock or unlock will also shut off the alarm. I'm curious if the VDS could be spoofed into sounding the alarm when the car is locked, by sending a message on the bus that says the door is open. It also seems that if the VDS always shows the PIN message when the alarm is sounding then it should be possible to send an alert via OVMS. I don't have a CAN bus tool but I also don't have any neighbors to complain about car alarms continually sounding. On Jul 26, 2012, at 1:24 AM, Mark Webb-Johnson <mark@webb-johnson.net> wrote:

In case anyone (with a can bus analyzer) is interested, the horn can be disabled by pulling the fuse (15A, #9 in fuse box). Lights still flash on alarm. Interestingly, using the key to open a locked car from the bottom of the door still sets off the alarm. Jack On Jul 26, 2012, at 1:24 AM, Mark Webb-Johnson <mark@webb-johnson.net> wrote:

Car firmware v1.3.5 is now in github. Changes since v1.3.3 are: 2012-09-14 1.3.5 Firmware 1.3.5 #79 SMS/PUSH notify if alarm is activated #78 can_poll0 100 vs 102 check #78 is a minor fix, more to address possible future problems than anything we're seeing today. For #79, I found what looks like an 'alarm sounding' indication on ID#100 B1=0x96 (the environment message). That is kind of where we would expect it to be. B5 bit2 looks to be it. I checked through all the other can bus logs I have and none have that bit set, so I'm pretty confident this is it. But, this is on a 2.5 Hong Kong Roadster, so no idea if it is the same on 2.x or 1.x US Roadsters. The implementation in is v1.3.5 and works for me :-) Could some US v1.5 and v2.x owners try it and let me know the result? Just make sure that (a) when you plug the module in you don't get an alert, and (b) when you set off the alarm (with window down, and alarm on, open the door from inside) you get the notification. It should look something like below. Regards, Mark. P.S. Fuse #9 didn't work for me, but the neighbours were mostly out ;-) On 2 Aug, 2012, at 6:26 AM, Jack West <jackduncanwest@gmail.com> wrote:

V1.3.5 works on our US2.5 Roadster. Alarm sounding is notified just as advertised. Nice work. Interesting that the fuse box assignment is different on your 2.5. The horn fuse was clearly marked on ours and seemed to be the only thing on that circuit. Not that I care, I don't have neighbors :) Jack On Sep 13, 2012, at 11:53 PM, Mark Webb-Johnson <mark@webb-johnson.net> wrote:
