All my current work is in C. I considered C++, but it just didn’t seem worth the overhead for that one place it would be useful (pluggable vehicle modules). I also considered python, but just too hard to deal with the low-level stuff we need.

The modem is on a pluggable module card (using industry and hobbyist standard 0.1” SIP connectors). We are trying various options and will pick the latest at the last minute.
