It's not shorted to ground on mine, but I wasn't able to make it work. 
This is perhaps because I don't have a spare GPS antenna. I tried using 
the GSM antenna (I drove around with my v2 for a few weeks with them 
swapped and it seemed to work fine.

I have seen the GPGGA messages every second, but not for very long and 
never with GPS data filled in. Could the messages stopping be because 
I'm not connected to the GSM network properly either?
