Believe someone decided to remove the medium compiler optimization in the free edition of the C18 compiler resulting in the HEX file being too large.

I have an earlier version of the free C18 compiler where medium optimization still works. Being a free version of compiler, can I then share this version without getting into any legal issues?

Have I missed a decision to no longer support the free C18 compiler - or has it been like that for ages?

I am trying to fix an issue in the iMiev code, but can no longer build 2.6.5 due to needing the full compiler and no way am I paying £300 for it.
