I also have a very poor GPS signal even with the expensive passive antenna, the final module really needs to support active ones.

There's also a slight chance your pigtail cable is broken. That has been an issue on some chinese RC transmitters recently, but I don't think that's the issue with your GPS, just a poor antenna.

The satellite count and GPS / GLONASS lock state are transferred into the vehicle position metrics:

It is small and will be hidden under the seat in the end, so it might not be a good solution, but it’ll be interesting to test.

The GSM-anteanna I use with the V2 is very nice as it tucks really nice between the window and the dashboard. If it works well, I might go for a second GSM-antenna 🙂

Regarding the passive GPS antenna, I've got mine now, it's this one:

…and it's a bit disappointing. I don't get any better results than with the simple GSM antenna. It's more the opposite, I had 10 satellites with the GSM antenna
in about a minute, this GPS antenna needs around 10 minutes to get there and then doesn't get better.

So maybe you could first try a second GSM antenna instead. Or maybe the LANCOM antenna is garbage, it's one of the cheapest passive antennas available.

Just a small status update on the Kia Soul porting.

My OVMS V3 is now connecting to the V2 server via my WiFi-network at home. I’ve got the first data from the new hardware through to the OVMS app on my iPhone.
Fantastic job guys!
As soon as my health is ok again, I can start testing the hardware in my car and verify the data and fix the bugs. The Kia Soul should be almost on par with
the V2, with a few things added.

Just wish I had a case...  And I need to get a twin sim-card (I got free SMS and lots of data included 🙂 ) so it can be online away from home. Oh, and a
passive GPS-antenna.
