Hi Mark,
Thank you for the file with the strings.
I did the translation into French, the values-fr\strings.xml is
attached.
I also attached a French app description, for Play Store
submission.
Following thoughts :
-
Many things require much more
words in French than in English, so I translated the app name as “OVMS”.
-
This is my first Android
translation, but I did many in the past on the now defunct webOS platform, and
experience told me that translations need to be checked in their context in the
app. So I’d like to test my translations within the app to be able to
correct some of them if they are wrong or don’t display well in their
captions. Could you send me an APK so I can test the translations?
-
I made the assumption: Wakeup
Car = Preheating/cooling of the cabin (would make sense on my Ampera, but I don’t
know what it does on the Tesla Roadster)

Denis,
I did a quick review, and the strings seem to be correctly
put in the resource file. I don't see any hard-coded.
Attached is the strings.xml. I hope it is self-explanatory.
Only about 120 to translate.
If others can step forward for German, Norwegian and Dutch,
that would be helpful. Please let us know you 'grab it', here, to avoid
duplication of effort.
Regards, Mark.
P.S. Description of the Android localisation process is
here: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/localization.html
P.P.S. I look forward to seeing the translations for the
first string "<string name="app_name">Open
Vehicle</string>" :-)
