    I don't know about "first", as there already are some stand-alone
    HUDs that have their own GPS to display some basic information
    (speed); they just need 12v from an accessory plug.  These guys are
    clearly ahead on the data acquisition front (and a whole lot more
    expensive).  But yes, it looks like there could be platform
    differences beyond just the connector.<br>

    I've been watching the TMC Forum for any details about the car's
    diagnostic connector.  There was a posting recently of a video from
    Jack Rickard with his review of the Model 3, followed by a long
    (very long) line by line walk-through of some CAN code.  It appears
    that he may be headed for the car's diagnostic connector too...<br>

        <div>We already know about those TIV-145 and TIV-144 diagnostics
          connectors (for Tesla Model S and X). This implies that
          TIV-996 is a different connector/wiring for Tesla Model 3.
          Given that it is a different platform, there would probably be
          major differences amongst the messaging.</div>

                          about getting a HUD, perhaps our next real
                          target should be the Tesla Model 3?  Use the
