[Ovmsdev] Tesla Roadster VDS custom message

There is some control over the presentation of the alert (vds wake-up, stickiness, type, etc), but haven’t played enough with to know what will be possible.

There is a separate system to be able to play a limited set of sounds on the VDS (as instructed by CAN bus commands). I remain intrigued by the possibility of playing the Star Wars ‘march’ theme over the CAN bus.

While the VDS would be useful for alerts (such as cellular connectivity lost, incorrect password, etc), I still think the little orange screen in the instrument panel offers the most hope. I still need to work out the ‘holy grain’ of stopping it updating from the VMS data (as the ID 0x400 message from the VMS has flags set to force that screen to update regularly - very frustrating).

Regarding input, touches on the VDS are available on the CAN bus. We should also be able to pickup presses on that little button on the steering column (trip/odo mode switch). But it is pretty limited.

Regards, Mark.
