I’m just pissed about the modem price. The 3G modules are too expensive (four times the price of what we pay for SIM900s). 4G modules are even more ludicrously priced.

Ok.

MAX7317 has 10 EGPIOs.

#define MAX7317_MDM_EN            0
#define MAX7317_SW_CTL            1
#define MAX7317_CAN1_EN           2
#define MAX7317_MDM_DTR           3
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_1           2
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_2           3
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_3           4
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_4           5
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_5           6
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_6           7
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_7           8
#define MAX7317_EGPIO_8           9

Of those, four are used (MDM_EN, SW_CTL, CAN1_EN, MDM_DTR), leading six available for expansion.

The DB26 expansion connector has 7 GEP (general expansion pins) available. These can be mapped by the expansion board.

If something needs a lot of GPIOs, probably best to use bluetooth, or perhaps ASYNC off EXP_1/EXP_2.

Coupon code to be used at checkout. I’m going to work out a way to show it on openvehicles.com <http://openvehicles.com/> once they have logged in, next to their registered vehicle. There is gonna be some trust here, that people don’t share that coupon code with others or abuse the system. Anyway, it will be time limited.

Regards, Mark
