[Ovmsdev] OVMS v3 Hardware (and firmware)

Order for 10 sets of developer hardware went in, and is in manufacture. Hopefully I should receive them next week, and send out then. Over the weekend I’ll be sending individual eMails to the developers who’ve told me they are willing to help out, so you know when and how you’ll get yours.

I’ve also just pressed the GO button on the injection mould. Scary, but necessary (as lead time on that is about a month). We’re now trying to source the most suitable factory for the production builds. Given where we are today, I think that we can realistically expect the first production run to be ready to go mid-to-late October. That should give enough time for at least some roughly-equivalent-functionality-to-v2 firmware to be ready.

On the firmware side of things we’ve recently added MDNS service, Wifi Access Point Mode (not a 3G/4G bridge - don’t get too excited), auto-mount support for SD CARDS, and tidied up a lot of peripheral control logic. It is coming along nicely.

I’m now concentrating on porting the Tesla Roadster code (as an example to others), as well as the SIMCOM modem control module (which is going to be a massive undertaking - in particular support the SIMCOM channel multiplexor protocol). After that, the SMS and OVMS v2 protocol support should be relatively simple and will be the last things to slot in to get up and running in cars.

Regards, Mark.

I am tying to arrange some sponsorship for this, for the first few boards to go free to developers who have done the most for the project; so if you can commit to do something specific, please let me know.

Assuming no hardware problems are found in that time, I’ll then push the button to start a first full production run of 100 to 200 sets.
