[Ovmsdev] OVMS v3 CE/FCC

Just a short note to say that we haven’t forgotten about OVMS v3 CE/FCC certification.

The plan has always been to get the initial build out of the way - to get some very stable hardware before we attempt certification. That is now done, and we are starting full production of these v3.0 boards next month. For the ‘active emissions’, we have chosen CE and FCC certified modules (ESP32 and SIMCOM), and these are included unmodified in OVMS v3. Nevertheless, the initial v3 modules as a whole are not CE or FCC certified and will still be sold from China as hobbyist kits (just as OVMS v2 was).

We have now started the process of selecting a certification laboratory for CE and FCC approval. This will take some time, and most likely require a v3.1 hardware revision (in particular for ESD protection, but we maybe also require some extra power line filtering). Once we achieve CE and FCC approval, we’ll see if we can find local distributors in EU and US to help get the product out (and simplify local supply).

If anybody has any experience with CE and FCC approval of such devices, and is willing to help out, please let me know. Any advise you can give would be most appreciated.

Regards, Mark.
