Hi Gary,

We have 2 Leafs for today, so probably don't need another.

The focus for today is to help Mark get the OVMS working in read mode.

However, if you are off then you are more than welcome to come as I am very interested in your aerodynanic changes.

If you don't make it today please keep me informed of your battery pack upgrade.

Hi Robert & Mark,

Just spotted your email this morning, got lost in recent spam clutter sorry.

If I can be any help please do let me know.

Our post code is OX155RP and we have 2 Ecotricity chargers nearby at Warwick services.

Ours is a 2012 Gen 1 Leaf which has now done 12000 miles, bought last September as ex demo with 3,500 miles.

I have Leafspy Pro often connected via the OBD2 port with data logging on and I have some data files from our car recently and from a new Tekna loaner car which we did 4750 miles in in addition to miles on our car.

I have been doing some aerodynamic clean up improvement tests recently and have achieved a 29% increase in miles per kwh at 70 mph ( 234 watt hours per mile) without much difficulty.

I am also helping Mike Schooling at Indra.co.uk in an effort to create an additional 50% retr fittable capacity battery pack for a Gen 1 Leaf, almost all of which will go under the boot (trunk) floor.

I don't have access to a garage/workshop but would come and join you if you still want to do some testing.

Regards

Gary

 Hi Mark,

Yes I have wifi.
There is a DC rapid charger at Fleet and Winchester.
I have put you in the diary.

Mine is 2011 Leaf is it worth trying to get a 2013 Leaf here as well ?

 Rob,

Your location looks pretty good, but 11th might be tough for me (I have been roped into taking the kids to something at 6:30pm). At the moment, 15th looks good, and that seems to be ok for Nigel as well.

Your location looks perfect. Nigel is further south (if I am correct), and you are in the middle. I suppose you’ve got wifi we can use?

Only other useful thing would be a DC fast charger nearby so that we can get some logs from a charge session on that. Is there one at a reasonable distance? There seem to be a few on the M3 about 20 mins away from you?

Regards, Mark.

I’ll be in UK between July 7th and 22nd (arriving, leaving, those dates). I’m staying around the Oxford area. I have quite a few commitments that I’ll firm up on the 7th so will know what days I have free then.

I thought it might be cool to arrange a hack-a-Leaf day, trying to get OVMS working in 1 day on the Nissan Leaf (EV CAN bus). I have modules and cables, a laptop, USB-serial adaptor, USB-CAN adaptor, and PICKIT3. I need a Leaf, a location to do the work, and some help. I’ve got a rental car, so can drive anywhere with a couple of hours of Oxford.

Please eMail me with the days that are possible for July 8th through 23rd for you, if you can help out.

Also, if anyone is in the Oxford area and wants to meet up, just let me know.

Thanks, Mark.
